Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada, June 12, 2020 – Fednav Limited is delighted to have been awarded the Port of Vancouver’s 2019 Blue Circle Award for the EcoAction program, showcasing the company’s continuous efforts in maintaining sustainable and high efficiency stewardship practices. The program rewards day-to-day operation above and beyond regulatory requirements by allowing financial incentives for vessels that have implemented emission reduction measures and other environmental enactment. Fednav holds the distinction of being one of the 18 recipients for 2019, alongside industry giants like CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk, and Mediterranean Shipping Company.

This recent recognition comes on the heels of the announcement of 12 of Fednav’s vessels earning the US Coast Guard E-zero designation, part of the QUALSHIP 21 program certification, confirming the company’s exceptional level of environmental compliance. Less than 20% of all foreign-flagged vessels that operate in US waters meet the strict eligibility requirements of this program, with only 106 vessels receiving this designation.

Launched in 2007, it recognizes several fuel, technology, and environmental management options eligible to receive discounted harbour due rates, thereby encouraging partners and stakeholders to enhance their stewardship structure, conserve energy, and reduce underwater noise and air emissions.
